Volkswagen Unveils New Polo GTI In UK
German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen has unveiled the new Polo GTI in the UK, which sports a 1.4-liter TSI engine that uses a supercharger from idle through to 3,000rpm, giving an output of 180PS at 6,200rpm and 184lbs ft of torque from 2,000rpm.
According to Volkswagen, the new Polo GTI features twin-clutch DSG gearbox that channels drive through the front axle; headlight units with the option of LED running lights; a new front bumper; 17-inch wheels fitted along with a set of red brake callipers.
In addition, it also comes with XDS differential, an electronic cross-axle traction control system for enhanced traction and handling; new springs and dampers which results in a 15mm lower ride height than the conventional Polo; and delivers 47mpg on the combined cycle while emitting 139g/km of CO2.
The company said that the changes continue inside the Polo GTI with revised dials, a new, flat-bottomed GTI steering wheel with small gearshift paddles and contrasting red stitching, aluminium pedals and heavily bolstered front sports seats finished in tartan trim.
The new Polo GTI is expected to arrive in the UK this summer at which point both the pricing and specification will be unveiled.
