Tesla Introduces Roadster In Five New Countries

ABR Staff Writer Published 18 July 2010

Tesla, a designer and manufacturer of electric vehicles (EVs) and EV powertrain components, has expanded its retail footprint with the introduction of its Roadster in Japan, Hong Kong, Poland, Turkey and Canada.

The company claims that the Roadster accelerates faster than premium sports cars that cost twice as much, yet it produces zero tailpipe emissions and is twice as energy efficient as leading hybrids.

The company said that it consumes no petroleum and plugs into conventional sockets throughout North America, Europe and Asia.

Tesla Motors (TSLA) has sold more than 1,200 Roadsters to customers in at least 28 countries.

Reportedly, Tesla currently has 13 regional showrooms. The company has recently appointed former Apple executive George Blankenship as the new vice president of Design and Store Development.

Mr Blankenship will build Tesla's long-term retail development plan, and his initial projects include opening Tesla stores in Tokyo, Japan; Toronto, Canada; and Washington, DC.
