ABR Staff Writer Published 30 June 2009

The move is expected to give Tata Motors a strong foothold in the Indian luxury car market, where it had neglegent presence so far

Tata Motors has launched Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles, the brands it bought from Ford Motors last year, in India. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has opened the country’s first showroom in the city of Mumbai.

The new range of premium luxury vehicles available for the Indian market will include the Jaguar XF, XFR and XKR and Land Rover Discovery 3, Range Rover Sport, and Range Rover.

Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Sons and Tata Motors, said: We are extremely pleased and proud to introduce the Jaguar Land Rover brands in the Indian market and give the discerning Indian customer direct access to these prestigious brands, accompanied by a parts and service network.

We hope that they will delight customers in India just as they have done in markets the world over, he added.

Tata Motors bought UK-based Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford Motor in June last year, to gain access to latest technologies and expand its reach in overseas markets.
