Scania plans to increase production rate, recruits 500 new employees

ABR Staff Writer Published 23 August 2010

Scania, a manufacturer of trucks and buses for heavy transport applications, and of industrial and marine engines, is planning to increase its production rate due to the increase in demand from truck markets outside Europe.

The company is recruiting 500 new employees at its European production units to deal with the increased production rate planned for the fourth quarter of 2010, about half the new jobs will be in Sweden.

Scania EVP and head of production and logistics Anders Nielsen said that during 2009 the employees used the period of low capacity utilisation for training and to develop and improve their methods and ways of working.
