Remy To Supply HVH250 Electric Motors To APM

ABR Staff Writer Published 14 February 2010

Remy International and Advanced Mechanical Products (AMP) have signed a letter of intent for potential long-term electric motor supply agreement. Under the agreement, AMP will use the Remy HVH250 electric motors in custom electric vehicle conversions.

The company said that the HVH250 is an electric motor/generator for electric and hybrid vehicles based on the company's high voltage hairpin (HVH) technology that provides enhanced motor performance and cooling effectiveness. Remy HVH electric motors are expected to reduce customer development costs and the production costs associated with low-volume custom designs.

As per the agreement, AMP will purchase standard Remy HVH250 components to design and develop motor housing and interface components to fit the needs of the vehicle being converted to electric.

AMP has developed an all-electric drive train for installation into select passenger vehicles. The first two vehicles available for AMP conversions are the GM Saturn Sky and the GM Pontiac Solstice, the company said.

John Weber, CEO of Remy, said: Our business relationship with AMP is another example of the ease in which the Remy HVH electric motor technology can be integrated seamlessly across a wide array of vehicle and off-road applications. We are looking forward to working with AMP as they continue to grow their market share in the electrification of the automobile.
