Mitsubishi Motors Sales Up 24.7% in April
Mitsubishi Motors Corp (MMC) vehicle sales rose by 24.7% to 10,727 units in April, compared to same period a year ago. Sales of passenger cars increased by 29.2% to 7,749 units, while sales of commercial vehicles went up by 14.3% to 2,978 units.
The company's total global production went up by 27.7% to 79,948 units in April, compared to same period last year. Production volume in Japan was 40,237 units, an increase of 76.1% compared to April 2009. Passenger car output was 34,993 units, up 89.9% over the same month last year. Commercial vehicle output was 5,244 units, up 18.6% from April 2009.
For April 2010, total exports from Japan were 27,878 units, up 195.4% on April 2009. Exports to Asia were 3,192 units, an increase of 155.6% over the same period last year.
Shipments to North America for April 2010 increased 104.6% to 3,214 units, as sales in the US and Canada grew by 172% and 41%, respectively over the same period last year. Exports to Europe were 11,417 units, an increase of 860.2% compared to April 2009.
