Maruti Suzuki Declares Marginal Increase In Price

ABR Staff Writer Published 17 January 2010

Maruti Suzuki India has announced a marginal increase in the price of its models, excluding recently launched Eeco, Swift (Petrol) and Gypsy models. The price increase varies from 0.12% (Ritz VDi) to 1.90% (Dzire LXi). For the affected models, the average increase in prices is around 0.6%.

The company said that the price increase is to partly recover the increase in the input costs arising out of raw material costs over the past one year. For some models, increase in the costs are being absorbed by them, in the light of market situation.

The Swift (Petrol) and Swift Dzire (Petrol) will now be equipped with the 1.2 litre K-series engine and comply with BSIV norms. Additionally, the petrol variants will now have a new improved transmission thus enhancing overall power-train performance. The K12 petrol engine on these variants delivers a fuel efficiency of 17.9 km per litre, certified as per CMVR rule 115. (previous engine delivered 15.9 kmpl)

Reportedly, the introductory prices for the refreshed Estilo, which was introduced in August 2009, stand withdrawn. The new prices for Estilo variants increased by INR1,243 to INR2,486.
