Kinetic Engineering to roll out new gearboxes

Kinetic Engineering, an India based auto component maker, is planning to rollout two new gearboxes that are meant for different customer segments.

The first gearbox will be mated to the Piaggio Ape four wheelers and the second assembled gearbox will be for Mahindra Navistar trucks, which the company is expecting to be launched within the next few months.

Kinetic Engineering vice chairperson Sulajja Motwani said the company has accomplished two vital programmes in the past 18 months that are all set to roll out soon.

The company said that it is targeting towards changing the Indian market and is bringing new technologies in the powertrain and transmission segments in the coming months of 2012.

"Our focus is on the transmission (segment) and we do hope to bring out new technologies in this area and in next few months you may see some new announcement," Motwani said.

"Company particularly targets two wheelers, three wheelers and commercial vehicles segments that are expanding in the Indian automotive market."

The company had not divulged the investments made for the products, but said that the current facilities and synergies were used in the development of new offerings.

Kinetic had also supplied components like shaft, gears and transmissions for Tata Nano project by setting up a component line for the Nano from its Ahmednagar facility in India.

The company is also planning to establish a new plant in Sanand, Gujarat, India to supply components for Tata Nano.
