ISA Seeks Investment, Collaboration To Develop Green Vehicle

ABR Staff Writer Published 10 June 2009

In an effort to expand the development of green energy infrastructure for plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles in Sweden, Invest in Sweden Agency (ISA) plans to attract investments or set up joint ventures with international battery suppliers. The move is intended to reinforce Sweden's position as the premium region for the development of green vehicles.

ISA is seeking partnerships in the arena of local cell manufacturing, automation and machinery development, exploration of Swedish battery chemistry research, recycling of Li-ion batteries, among others.

ISA has carried out a pre-study of possible Li-ion battery manufacturing and industry growth in Sweden. At present, it is working with Swedish vehicle manufacturers, investors, vehicle clusters and energy manufacturers to form a possible battery industry platform.

Lennart Haman, Battery Technology Analyst and Advisor to ISA, said: “This is a huge possibility to develop a region towards zero emission and connect this to Sweden's target of achieving production of 100% green energy.”
