Hino Motors Starts Engine Production In Thailand
Hino Motors Manufacturing (Thailand), a manufacturing subsidiary of Hino Motors, said that it has begun production of engines for HINO 500 Series at its Bang Pakong Plant in Chon Buri Province, Thailand.
According to Hino Motors, the engine production had started on July 7, 2010, for installation in trucks assembled in Thailand for both local and overseas markets and the planned production for FY2011 is around 3500 units.
The company is also working to optimize its production structure, including engine production localization. The engines for Hino 500 series exports from Japan and also knocked down kits for local assembly in other overseas factories will continue to be produced in Japan.
The company said that around JPY500m was invested for the start of production including installation of new engine production line in its Bang Pakong Plant, creating about 60 new jobs.
In addition, the company will also serve as a production base of HINO 500 Series, engaged in further enhancing production efficiency, reducing logistics costs and delivery lead time, for future expansion of exports to Asia Pacific region.
