Ford Plans To Increase Production In Its Russian Plant

Following the government announced programs to support car sales

Ford is going to increase production in its Russian plant after the government has announced programs to support car sales, reported Reuters, quoting the company.

Nigel Brackenbury, managing director of Ford Russia, said: With the car scrappage program expected to be introduced in Russia next year, we believe it is necessary to start the realignment of our local production.

Vladimir Putin, Prime Minister said that Russia would pay RUB50,000 ($1,733) to car owners who agreed to trade in vehicles over 10 years old for new, domestically made cars, including ones produced by foreign companies like Ford, reported the source.

The Government of Russia has already subsidizes loans on cars under RUB600,000 with 90% of Ford Focus cars eligible for this program.

The Vsevolozshsk assembly plant employs 2,460 people with a maximum capacity of 125,000 vehicles per year including 100,000 Ford Focus cars, and 25,000 Ford Mondeo cars, reported the news agency.
