Flowserve receives valves order from KHNP
US-based Flowserve Corp has received a multi-million dollar order from Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power (KHNP) to provide valves for its nuclear power plant in South Korea.
The order includes main steam isolation valves and main feedwater isolation valves to be used at the KHNP's Shin-Ulchin 1 and 2 nuclear power plant pressurized water reactors.
Valves equipped with fast-acting stored energy actuators are designed to prevent the loss of fluid, from main steam and feed water lines, and close within 3-5 seconds.
Shin-Ulchin 1 and 2 reactors are currently under construction and scheduled for commercial operation in 2015 and 2016, respectively.
Flowserve flow control division president Tom Pajonas said the company is pleased to play such an important role in the production of clean, emissions-free energy in South Korea and around the world.
