FEV Cooperates With EIG On Lithium-Ion Battery Pack Development
The cooperation would enable joint development of solutions to the automotive electrification challenges of both FEV and EIG customers
FEV, a developer of powertrain and vehicle technologies, said that it would harness the advanced capabilities of its hybrid electric vehicle development center (HEVDC) for the development of a 21kW-h Li-Ion battery pack.
The battery pack, being developed by FEV, would utilize advanced cells from Energy Innovation Group (EIG) for a Range-Extended Electric Vehicle (ReEV) project. The cooperation would enable joint development of solutions to the automotive electrification challenges of both FEV and EIG customers.
The battery pack is expected to be demonstrated in a ReEV concept Dodge Caliber that was shown by FEV at the 2009 SAE World Congress, said the company.
Gary Rogers, president and CEO of FEV, said: FEV is pleased to announce this cooperation with EIG. The strongest teams are developed when recognized experts from different fields coordinate their resources to solve problems that are critical to the industry.
We prefer to work that way with our customers as well as with our partners. EIG is a recognized leader in battery technology and we look forward to jointly developing innovative new technologies that address the needs of our industry.
