The DOE grant sponsored by the Ozark Center for Sustainable Solutions calls for Electric Car Company (ECC) to convert a Transit Shuttle Bus equipped with a 275HP Cummins diesel engine into one with a full electric drive-train.
Specifications requires ECC to replace the diesel engine in the shuttle bus with a premium 100% 'Pure Electric' drive-train that will have a 150 mile travel range between charges at an average speed of 55mph and a top speed of 85mph. The bus will also be equipped with air conditioning, quick response electric heating, full Regenerative Braking resulting in shorter stopping distances, while reducing interior noise levels by 40%. The new engine and rechargeable Lithium Ion batteries are expected to have an average life of 450,000 miles.

By getting the nod from the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), it reaffirms that our conversion process is not only going save companies and municipalities a lot of money, it's also going to contribute to a greener economy and a greener planet.
