Daimler To Establish New Smart Product Unit
Daimler said that it will set up a new smart product unit within the Mercedes-Benz Cars division on September 1, 2010, which is expected to enhance the framework for expansion of brand and further development of product portfolio.
According to Daimler, the focus on the smart brand and segment-specific orientation will be enhanced by assignment of relevant functions from development, production and sales to the new unit within the Mercedes-Benz Cars division.
The company also expects close cooperation with Mercedes-Benz development, production and sales divisions which will ensure that relevant synergies continue to be consistently utilized.
In conjunction, Annette Winkler, previously head of global business management and wholesale Europe, will head the new smart product unit.
She will be responsible for overall enhancement of brand and will be report to Joachim Schmidt, executive vice president sales and marketing of Mercedes-Benz Cars.
