Continental to invest $113m at Seguin plant in US

ABR Staff Writer Published 03 February 2012

Continental, a global automotive supplier, is planning to invest more than $113m in its Seguin, Texas, manufacturing facility.

The auto supplier, which makes engine, transmission and hybrid control units at its Seguin plant, plans to shift the production of sensors and actuators currently produced only in Europe and Asia.

With the investment the company will create about 300 full-time jobs over the next five years.

The company said that the addition of the sensor production will support business with current and new customers.

Continental senior vice president of NAFTA powertrain division Kregg Wiggins said the investment would not have been possible without the strong support of and collaboration with the state of Texas, Seguin Economic Development Corporation, City of Seguin and Guadalupe County officials.

Germany-based Continental also operates facilities in Houston and Uvalde, Texas, it has generated $26bn in revenue last year.
