Chrysler To Manufacture, Sell Fiat 500 In North America

ABR Staff Writer Published 01 July 2009

Four models likely to hit the US market in 2011

Chrysler Group LLC, the automaker run by Italy's Fiat SpA, is going to manufacture and sell four models of the Fiat 500 in the US.

The company would sell sporty hatchback 'Abarth', station wagon, convertibles and four-seat subcompact in the US.

Sergio Marchionne, CEO of Chrysler Group, is quoted by Bloomberg as saying: All of those cars will be coming to the US. Fiat will be known in the US purely in terms of its 500 car.

Production of the small 500 in North America is likely to begin at a Chrysler plant either in the US or in Mexico.

Chrysler emerged from bankruptcy on June 10, and Fiat holds a 20% stake in the new Chrysler.
