Cadillac's Escalade Hybrid To Use Mobil 1

ABR Staff Writer Published 16 November 2009

Escalade to be the first full-size luxury SUV to feature hybrid powertrain technology

ExxonMobil's Mobil 1, a fully synthetic motor oil brand, has been selected as the factory-and-service-fill endorsed motor oil for the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid. Escalade is said to be the first-ever, full-size luxury sports utility vehicle to feature hybrid powertrain technology.

Reportedly, powered by GM’s two-mode hybrid engine technology, which blends power from two electric motors using a 300V battery pack with a combustion engine, Escalade delivers a 50% city fuel economy improvement compared to previous versions. The new model was launched in September 2008 and is now available in the US, Canada and China.

In addition, Mobil 1 has also been selected as the factory-and-service-fill endorsed motor oil for the redesigned Cadillac CTS-V, which was launched in November 2008.

John Howell, global product director of Cadillac, said: The 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid exemplifies our commitment to delivering vehicles that combine cutting-edge technological innovation with the style, performance and luxury that have long been the hallmark of Cadillac.

Lawrence Kearns, global automotive marketing manager of ExxonMobil Lubricants & Petroleum Specialties company, said: For many years, our Mobil 1 technical experts have collaborated with Cadillac and GM engineers to help advance engine technology and ensure that Mobil 1 always meets or exceeds the high performance benchmarks for which Cadillac vehicles are recognized.
